Jamie Lee Curtis says her daughter Ruby Guest’s life is threatened “only because she exists as a human being”.

The Halloween ends The 63-year-old star told Spanish radio network Cadena SER in an interview published Tuesday that the rise in transphobia and hate speech against transgender people like Ruby, 26, scares her.

“I have a trans daughter. There are threats to her life, just to exist as a human being. There are people who want to annihilate her, her and people like her,” Curtis said. “The level of hatred is … as if we haven’t learned from fascism, as if we haven’t learned what the result is. The extermination of human beings. It’s terrifying.”

“So Jamie Lee Curtis is scared, and you should be too,” he continued. “And Jamie Lee Curtis has a voice, and he’s trying to use it, and you should too.”

The actress added: “And that’s how we change things, thinking about them, learning about them and then using our voices to attract attention and fight them.”

Ruby has come out as trans for Curtis and her father, Curtis’ husband Christopher Guest in 2020.

“It was scary, just simply telling them something about me they didn’t know,” Ruby told PEOPLE in an October 2021 interview with her mother. “It was intimidating, but I wasn’t worried. They accepted me so much all my life.”

When Ruby first tried to tell her parents she was trans, she found herself unable to do so in person and texted Curtis after a visit to the Los Angeles family home in 2020.

On Tuesday, Ruby and sister Annie Guest walked Curtis down the red carpet for the world premiere of his next slasher. Halloween ends at the TCL Chinese Theater in Los Angeles.

Annie, 35, wore a strapless black dress with a sweetheart neckline and silver roses on either side of the bodice, while her younger sister wore a silver dress under a black jacket. Ruby also wore the perfect accessory for the event over the shoulder: a bag in the shape of a pumpkin.

“My family. Proud mother. Loving support. @Halloweenmovie,” Curtis captioned a photo of the glamorous trio on Instagram.

Curtis’ final Halloween The film’s premiere comes four months after she officiated at the wedding of daughter Ruby and her partner Kynthia at an event in the family’s backyard where attendants and guests came in cosplay outfits.

“We’re going to have a great picnic in the back yard. I’m really excited,” Curtis said Jimmy Kimmel Live! introducing Jimmy Kimmel about marriage during an apparition in March.

She added: “Both of my children will have married in my yard, which makes me cry.”

“It’s much more significant,” explained the mother of two. “Just forgetting all the business of the show: being a parent, having both of your kids married in your backyard.”
