Robbie Coltrane, actor of Harry Potter and Cracker, has died at the age of 72.
The Scottish star was best known for playing Hogwarts gamekeeper Hagrid and for playing criminal psychologist Dr Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the ITV drama Cracker.

Arguably Coltrane’s best known role came in the Harry Potter film series as he starred in all eight films as Rubeus Hagrid alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson.
The 6-foot-1-inch actor, who was personally selected by author JK Rowling, is said to have played the role of the giant only after his sons urged him to do so.
